I do love pfSense and am glad I am using it over the other options I looked at. of the below listed scanners, which one will provide you the most information about the host or network
NetSH, NMAP, Angry IP scanner, and advance IP.
Thank you guys for your reply I appreciate your time and humor. The reason for bringing that up is that I am working in dual boot with my Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04 and have just installed nmap and will test later. The last flavor of anything was actually FreeBSD and when the company I worked for moved away from that I was in a world of Windows. I do think that you are on to something because I did not find the RDP port open on the I am about to walk away from the whole windows thing as I have started to ease into Linux and am enjoying it. However there may be an issue with the windows firewall and open ports there. Machine and I have a Linksys router that is not open to anything. While most run-of-the-mill port scanners only allow for standard scanning, Nmap can perform much more detailed types of scans. My scan was taken from a different ISP on a Windows 7 Ulti. Nmap has all of the standard scanning capabilities that Angry IP has such as DNS resolution, ping checks, and port status reporting, but can go much deeper when it comes to querying ports. Lol thanks for being nice D, I had kinda prepared for some real reaming about reading the other posts (I did but did not get what you are saying from them) It does seem that there is a ton of this going around.
